Welcome to the 2019-20 Roosevelt Dads Club

Welcome new Roosevelt dads and welcome back our previous members.

Mission Statement:  Involving Dads in the Student experience…Academically. Physically. Emotionally.

Dad’s Club members serve as attendants at school events.  We work together with the PTA at their events when needed. We assist with student tutoring and mentoring, school grounds clean-up days, special projects, and other general support as requested by the school. The RDC provides a means to meet your neighbors. We have monthly meetings throughout the year that allow for fellowship among members as well as providing the status of projects within the club. There is no obligation to attend all club meetings and events. Participate at your convenience and as your schedule permits.

Teddy’s Café Cookout:  Teddy’s Cafe is our major program where each teacher recognizes a student for excellence in their classroom on a monthly basis.  The student is awarded Teddy’s Cafe and provided a special hot dog lunch in the courtyard with their family. Dad’s Club members cook and serve the lunches to the students.  Monthly we serve over 300 hot dogs.

Spring Golf Tournament:  This event sells out each year and provides funding for school projects at the request of the Principal and Teachers. This years event will be held February 28th at the  MacDill AFB golf course. Last year we raised close to $15,000. Past projects include Dad’s Club Pavillion, AV Equipment for the Auditorium, and the RDC Paver Courtyard. We added Fence Mesh Signage and new picnic tables which was a joint project with the PTA.  Our current projects include the purchase of new instruments for the music department at Roosevelt and sports equipment for the PE department.

We also hold several other exciting events.  Back to School Picnic, The John Aaron Memorial Sporting Clay Tournament, Holiday Bowl, Movie Night, Donuts with Dad and a Fishing Tournament.

The John Aaron Memorial Sporting Clay Tournament was a huge success.  The Clay Tournament and Golf Tournament contributed $2,250 for the John Aaron Children Education Fund. John Aaron was a past President and dedicated member of the Roosevelt Dads Club that passed away unexpectedly in 2017.

We encourage you to join us for multiple events during the  year, whether it’s grilling up lunch on a Friday, golfing, sporting clays, movie night, or our monthly meeting at a local watering hole.

Membership: Membership dues are $30 annually.  Your club dues pay for the Teddy’s Cafe lunches for the kids.  There are several ways to join, online and in person.

Dear Friends of Roosevelt Elementary,

We are excited to be writing to you about the 13th Annual Roosevelt Elementary Dads Club Golf Tournament!!

This is the sole fundraising event put on by the Dads Club.

We all feel very fortunate that we are able to send our children to an A-rated elementary school located in the heart of our South Tampa community. It’s because of the hard work of the faculty, parents, and the support of the local business community that Roosevelt has been able to maintain this A rating.

Over the last several years we have seen the student population at Roosevelt grew. As the class size continues to grow so has the need for additional support from the parents and our local businesses. The Dads Club Golf Tournament is a great avenue to support Roosevelt. It is also a great way to advertise your business!

We will be hosting the 12th Annual Roosevelt Golf Tournament this year on Friday, February 23th at MacDill AFB Bay Palms Golf Complex. We are currently seeking sponsorship’s and collecting donations from businesses and individuals. Please find the sponsorship form on our website that explains the different levels of participation. All proceeds from the tournament will go towards supporting Roosevelt Elementary projects.

With monies raised over the past several years, the Dads Club has been able to: construct the Dads Club courtyard and walkway, put in an upgraded projector and screen in the auditorium, Dads Club Pavilion, put in iron fencing around the property, refurbish decking at the nature trail, establish WiFi network in the classrooms, sound system in the cafeteria, carpool and walkers corner pavers, smart boards in all the classrooms and a new sign, not to mention the thousands of hotdogs served at Teddy’s Cafe!.

We hope that you will join us in this year’s tournament. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact:

President- Nathan Pawelkop –  president@rooseveltdadsclub.com
Vice President- Jon Arcos –  vicepresident@rooseveltdadsclub.com

Thank you in advance for your support of the Roosevelt Rough Riders!

Sincerely,
The Roosevelt Dads Club Golf Tournament Committee
